View profile →Contract (or sub-contract) deep hole drilling is outsourcing the drilling of deep holes to a job shop that runs gundrilling, BTA or ejector machines for hire. You supply the part and the print; the shop supplies the machine, tooling and process expertise and charges per hole or per part.
Dedicated shops cover micro bores from about 0.5 mm up to very large BTA bores, in most engineering materials — including hard and exotic alloys such as Inconel, Hastelloy and titanium that need matched process experience. Match the shop's capacity range to your hole before comparing quotes.
Compare capacity (bore range, maximum depth and L/D), material experience, quality certifications, inspection reports and regrind support — not just price. For a critical hole, pay for a sample run and measure it yourself before committing volume. See the contract drilling guide for the full RFQ checklist.
